'BRAZILIAN SNACK SHOP PETISCO BRAZUCA MAKES ITS DEBUT AT SMORGASBURG 2019 LINE UP The joint is the first to represent Brazilian culture among the food market vendors NEW YORK, NY., March 28th, 2019 – Petisco Brazuca, the first Brazilian snack shop in New York, is making its debut in the ninth year of acclaimed food market Smorgasburg. Famous by their variety of coxinha – popular finger food consisting of shredded chicken, covered in dough, molded into a shape resembling a chicken leg, battered and fried - the company was chosen over more than one thousand applications and is set to have its booth on both Williamsburg and Prospect Park locations this Summer season starting on April 6th. The debut celebrates a milestone in Petisco Brazuca’s journey. “We started unpretentiously in our home kitchen in Brooklyn while cooking coxinhas for a group of friends. Time after time we saw an increasing demand for our products and we’re incredibly grateful and happy to join Smorgasburg this year”, says Ricardo Rosa, founder of Petisco along with his wife Vanessa Oliveira. The coxinha is the Brazilian sweetheart, a universal love that blends cultural food traits with the everyday life while bringing people together. In the US, Brazilians find it easier to introduce their culture through the food, and coxinha is the most authentic option. Due to cultural differences, Petisco saw a need to expand the snack’s flavors and dough textures to meet the American preferences. When visiting Petisco at Smorgasburg, people can try top sellers flavors Chicken, Cheese, Spinach and Dulce de Leche. In a path of popularizing the authentic Brazilian food experience to US since 2013, joining Smorgasburg is a proof of acceptance by New Yorkers towards Brazilian food. “New York is a blend of cultures, and we saw an opportunity to add the Brazilian taste to shake it up. We’re proud to join the Smorgasburg family in Brooklyn, that is where we first started the company and where we feel the most receptivity for our products. It feels like home to us”, adds Vanessa Pedreira. Petisco will be in Williamsburg every Saturdays and Prospect Park on Sundays, from 11am through 6pm, starting on April 6th. Their joint is located in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn (833 Dekalb Avenue) and is open 7 days per week, from 10am – 8pm.
